One hundred twenty-five bilingual students from Barringer High School and Central High School enrolled in the 2024 Office of Bilingual English Plus Summer Program. This year, the Office of Bilingual Education forged a unique partnership with Dr. Jamilla Davis from the VIP Coalition Boss Up Program. Together, they provided students with essential business training on creating businesses in the United States.

On August 2, 2024, students showcased their business ideas at Newark's City Hall, with the invaluable support of Mayor Ras Baraka, Deputy Mayors Lakeesha Eure, and Rahaman Muhammad, and the Newark Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery Services. This event exemplified the experiences the students embarked on from the beginning of the summer.  They lived a transformative journey that allowed them to navigate the intricacies of business planning, building, and presentation. The Office of Bilingual's "Entrepreneurs on the Rise" curriculum ignited students' passion for entrepreneurship, resulting in a stunning array of business ideas that ranged from socially conscious initiatives to glamorous ventures. With unwavering determination and newfound skills and knowledge, these students are ready to embark on their entrepreneurship journeys, continuing to chase their dreams and impact the world.
