Dear Thirteenth Avenue School Families,
Happy New Year! We hope you and your loved ones enjoyed a joyful, healthy, and restful holiday season. As we welcome the new year, we are excited to continue working together to support the success and well-being of our students at Thirteenth Avenue School.
The start of a new year is a wonderful opportunity to reset routines, refocus goals, and renew our commitment to student learning. One of the most important ways families can support academic success is by ensuring consistent daily school attendance.
Regular attendance plays a critical role in every child’s academic growth and overall development. Being present each day allows students to fully engage in instruction, build meaningful relationships with teachers and peers, and develop positive habits that support long-term success. When students are absent, they miss valuable learning experiences that are difficult to make up.
To ensure a smooth and successful start to the day, students should be in the building by 8:10 a.m. each morning. Teachers pick students up at 8:15 a.m., breakfast is served from 8:20–8:30 a.m., and instruction begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. All students must be seated and ready to learn by 8:30 a.m. When students arrive after these times, they miss important morning routines, breakfast, and instructional time. Late arrivals can disrupt a student’s learning and make it harder to fully engage in lessons from the start of the day.
Arriving at school on time and ready to learn helps set a positive tone for the day and contributes to a focused and supportive learning environment for all students. We understand that occasional absences or delays may be unavoidable; however, we encourage families to make attendance a priority and schedule appointments or travel outside of school hours whenever possible. If your family is experiencing challenges that make regular attendance difficult, please reach out to the school so we can work together to provide support.
Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication to our school community. Together, as we begin this new year, we can ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed each day at Thirteenth Avenue School.
Wishing you and your family a happy, healthy, and successful New Year.
Sincerely,
