Dear Parents/ Guardians:

Welcome back to the 2019-2020 school year. I hope that this letter finds you well and you are enjoying what is left of the summer. As your principal, I am committed to providing opportunities that will ensure your child’s success. As we begin our school year, let us continue to strengthen the relationships we build to ensure a high level of learning for your child.

As a community we will have a productive year. Your support in your child’s education is needed and will be valued. This year, we will work to build a family environment where all family members are welcomed to be actively engaged with their child and the learning process. As a member of our school community, you will have an open invitation to join us at school activities whenever possible.

Please review the following information to assist you in getting ready for the upcoming school year:

  • First Day of School For Students: The first day of the school year is September 3, 2019. ALL students must be in attendance…we expect 100% attendance on Day 1. All students must be in full uniform. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all students. Pre K students enter the school through North 11th Street Entrance and all other grades enter through North 10th Street Playground Entrance. Staff will be on posts during ingress and egress to support students daily. The first day of school is a full session.
  • Registration Procedures: All new families are welcome to register in person at the school during the month of August from 9:00 am to 2:00pm. Please expect a phone call from Mrs. Pagan after initial registration to set up an appointment to see the nurse. We need you to adhere to your scheduled appointment to ensure every family has the time they need to get all of their questions answered and issues addressed. ALL FAMILIES MUST HAVE 3 CURRENT PROOFS OF ADDRESS ON FILE. IF YOU HAVE NOT SUBMITTED THEM PLEASE DO SO BEFORE THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!
  • Lunch Applications: Every family is required to complete a lunch application online. Applications must be completed online. Please follow the Newark Public School Website to apply.

Families that do not have computer access will be able to access the link during registration, school orientation or visit the school between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm during the month of August. Please make sure that you keep your confirmation number to submit to the school. Our goal is to have 100% of students with applications on file before the start of school!

  • Orientation: We will be hosting a parent and student orientation on Thursday, August 29th between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. At the orientation, you will be provided with your child’s upcoming year class placement, receive greetings from various staff members and have the opportunity to visit your child’s classroom. We will conduct a mock run of school procedures so everyone understands entrance and exit procedures for Day 1 of School. We invite and highly encourage ALL parents/guardians and students to be present on this day.
  • School Uniforms: Newark Public School students are required to wear school uniforms. Our school uniforms consist of NAVY BLUE POLO SHIRTS and Khaki, Navy or Black bottoms. Kidz Place has our school logo. We encourage everyone to purchase shirts with logos. Logos help identify our students, build school culture and climate and promote unity. Let’s Go STARS!
