As the Office of Teaching and Learning concludes its second round of school visits. The visits have reinforced the District’s commitment to partnering with educators to enhance instruction and foster student achievement. By engaging directly with teachers and students, directors and supervisors have had the opportunity to witness innovative practices, celebrate successes, and gather valuable insights to inform ongoing district initiatives such as Cornell notes, writing across all content areas, and student portfolios. These visits are a testament to NBOE’s belief in the power of collaboration and shared dedication to ensuring excellence in every classroom.

With the second round of visits complete, the Office of Teaching and Learning is energized to transition into the next phase of its work: creating a professional video library of best practices. Aligned to the Framework for Effective Teaching and Newark Board of Educators’ Academic Walkthrough tool, this resource will capture the exemplary instruction observed during visits and make it accessible to educators district-wide. Together, these efforts represent a unified commitment to empowering teachers, elevating instructional quality, and supporting student success at every level.
