The Office of Bilingual Education (OBE) proudly participated in a convening centered on education, collaboration, and resource sharing to support immigrant families and children. The event, hosted by the New Jersey Consortium for Immigrant Children, took place at Rutgers Law School in Newark and drew over 140 attendees, including educators, advocates, and community leaders.
Marisol Diaz, Director of the Office of Bilingual Education, participated in a dynamic panel discussion titled “Rising Above Scarcity to Welcome Newark’s Spirit of Solidarity.” Diaz shared insights and strategies on fostering equitable educational opportunities for immigrant students while emphasizing Newark’s commitment to building inclusive, supportive environments for families navigating the challenges of resettlement.
The day-long convening featured workshops, networking sessions, and expert panels designed to empower stakeholders with tools to better serve immigrant communities. The event underscored the importance of collaboration among schools, community organizations, and families to address the unique needs of immigrant children.
“We are proud to represent Newark’s spirit of solidarity and unwavering commitment to educational equity,” said Diaz. “Through dialogue and shared resources, we can continue to empower families and celebrate the diversity that strengthens our community.”
