Pamela Brilhante da Silva, a student in Ms. Rosana Oliveira’s Bilingual - Portuguese Geometry class at East Side High School, enjoys her first Prisms Virtual Reality experience. Pamela is one of over 5,700 Newark students in 58 schools that experiences virtual reality regularly in their mathematics course. Prisms VR is a virtual reality platform designed to help students understand and visualize mathematical concepts in an immersive, interactive, three-dimensional environment with modules focused on solving real-world issues. The virtual reality modules range from Grade 6 Mathematics to Precalculus.

In Mr. Ferguson’s class at Oliver Street School, when asked for thoughts on the class, one student said, “I loved this experience! What’s not to love?!”  The experience for students is tailored, allowing them to navigate through virtual reality at their pace. Additionally, the modules are accessible to Newark’s multilingual students with all written and spoken components available in the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Haitian Creole, ensuring all students have access to cutting-edge technologies and three-dimensional experiences in mathematics.
