District Social Workers 2s underwent thorough and comprehensive training sessions on a specialized suicide prevention technique known as QPR: Question, Persuade, and Refer. This technique equips individuals with the necessary skills to intervene effectively in a potentially life-threatening situation. The primary objective of QPR is to decrease suicidal behaviors and ultimately save lives through the dissemination of innovative, practical, and evidence-based suicide prevention strategies.

Similar to how individuals trained in CPR are able to save numerous lives annually, staff members who undergo QPR training acquire the ability to identify the various warning signs associated with a suicide crisis. By mastering the art of questioning, persuading, and referring those in distress, these trained professionals are able to provide the vital support and assistance needed to steer individuals towards the appropriate resources and help. Through this proactive approach, the QPR mission aims to create a community that is well-equipped to address and combat the alarming rise in suicide rates and mental health crises.
