Facilities Professional Development Day

In support of The Next Decade: 2020-30 Strategic Plan, Priority 4: Continuous Learning for All, the Facilities management team participated in a full day’s PD that was innovative and different from the content that is typically covered. The day was filled with skills challenges, leadership education, and peer building.

The training took place at Science Park High School where the Facilities team was provided with supervision and leadership training and hands on demonstrations to highlight the importance of working collaboratively. This included splitting the team into groups with a task to assemble a jigsaw puzzle to help demonstrate that twelve eyes are better than two. Additionally, all group participants actively listened to suggestions/comments that others shared. The afternoon session consisted of a new formation of teams that worked together to complete skills challenges while being blindfolded.

The feedback from participants was very positive and many shared that this particular staff development day was informative, interactive, and fun for an overall new experience. The PD resonated with the group as there was strong emphasis on not doing it alone because Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM).
