District Professional Development Day included a specialized session to enhance instructional practices for Multilingual Learners (MLs). The Bilingual Department collaborated with the Office of English Language Arts to engage K-12 teachers in targeted strategies to support MLs in the classroom. This session underscored the District's commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of all students.

Teachers participated in hands-on activities covering a range of techniques designed to boost MLs' academic success. Key strategies included implementing Cornell Notes tailored for MLs, crafting supports to encourage active speaking, and creating and executing clear language objectives. Educators also explored differentiation methods within the ELA curriculum and discussed the importance of portfolio artifacts in tracking MLs' progress. This collaborative professional development effort provided educators with practical tools and techniques to enhance language development and academic growth for multilingual students across the District.
