The Office of Science has established a collaborative partnership with John Marshall Weather, LLC, to deliver an educational meteorology assembly specifically designed for third-grade students at six different schools located throughout the District. This immersive and interactive 60-minute assembly not only captivates the young audience but also aligns seamlessly with the Weather and Climate unit included in their curriculum. During this dynamic session, students are afforded the invaluable opportunity to engage directly with a live weather station, which enhances their learning experience as they delve into various topics related to meteorology.
As part of the assembly, students will explore different types of storms, fostering a deeper understanding of nature's powerful phenomena. They will also engage in discussions centered around the water cycle, identifying its crucial role in weather patterns and climate. Furthermore, students will have the chance to visualize weather fronts, which aids in solidifying their grasp of forecasting and atmospheric conditions. The assembly has garnered a positive reception from both students and staff, indicating its effectiveness in enhancing educational engagement and interest in the field of science.
