Nearly two hundred middle school students from NBOE participated in the "What’s It All About?" Youth Conference organized by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. The event drew students from 7th to 9th grades, creating an engaging atmosphere. They attended various workshops tailored to address important and relevant issues. Topics included "Love Shouldn't Hurt," which focused on understanding healthy relationships, and "David's Shoes: Stop the Violence," which encouraged students to reflect on the impact of violence. Another important workshop, "Being Safe in Cyberspace," educated students on the risks and responsibilities of online behavior.
The conference aimed to enhance students' understanding of critical themes such as responsible decision-making and personal safety. Participants gained valuable insights that will help them navigate challenges in their lives. By learning about issues like cyber safety and community well-being, they became more aware of the consequences of their choices.
Each year, this conference takes place on the campus of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). This location provides a neutral ground for different Essex County community agencies to come together. During the event, these organizations offer services and share information that benefit students. The collaboration among these agencies highlights the community’s commitment to empowering young people. Overall, the conference serves as a vital platform for education and support, fostering a safer and more informed generation.
