Jordy Nivar is a District Leader for Newark’s West Ward and currently serves as Director of Community Relations for The Berger Organization.
Born in the Dominican Republic, Jordy immigrated to the United States at a very young age and settled in Newark with his mother, a single parent. Growing up, he faced the challenges of adapting to a new country and culture while working to remain deeply connected to his roots. These early experiences shaped his resilience, work ethic, and lifelong commitment to community.
Jordy attended Bloomfield Tech, where he studied carpentry and received his formal education. By the age of 17, inspired by entrepreneurship, he founded his first business, Knockout Productions. Through his education and early career, he developed strong core values, a disciplined work ethic, and sharpened his natural leadership abilities.
After graduating, Jordy joined the carpenters union and spent five years working in his trade before transitioning into a new chapter of his professional career. He went on to spend 17 years with The Berger Organization, where his understanding of community engagement and public service was forged and refined. This experience deepened his commitment to serving others and advocating for meaningful, lasting change.
As a devoted father of three, Jordy has always prioritized family. His passion for youth development led him to volunteer as a Little League baseball coach, where he mentored young athletes and emphasized teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership. These experiences reinforced his dedication to giving back and investing in the future of Newark’s children and neighborhoods.
As District Leader, Jordy channels his personal and professional experiences into strengthening community relationships and advocating for the needs of all residents. His journey—from a young immigrant to a trusted community leader—reflects his unwavering commitment to service, development, and the continued improvement of Newark’s communities.
