In just their second year under the leadership of Coach Derrick Falletta, the Bard Early College High School Girls’ Basketball team has rewritten the story of its program. What once was one of the most challenged teams in the county and city, is now a team that plays with pride, determination, and the heart of champions. This season, the team has made history by winning its first-ever conference championship, marking a monumental achievement for both the school and its athletes.

Under Coach Falletta, the program has experienced remarkable growth and success clinching the National Division Championship for the first time in school history. Just a year ago, Bard broke its school record of 8 wins by winning 13 games. Before last season, the girls’ basketball program never played more than 13 games in a season and amassed a 28-65 record in the first 10 years of its existence. This season, they’ve not only surpassed that record, but they currently hold a remarkable 16-6 record with four games still remaining on the schedule. Incredibly, they are poised to shatter that mark, a testament to the hardwork and dedication of the players and coaching staff.

The Lady Raptors have garnered widespread respect, earning a spot among the top 24 teams in the county for the first time in school history. This season has been a culmination of years of effort, and their conference championship is a proud moment not only for the team, but for the entire Bard Early College school community.
