Thank A Teacher

As you may know, this week marks the annual observance of Teacher Appreciation Week. From May 4th through May 8th, communities across the nation will take time to honor the commitment, enthusiasm and hard work of all educators.

Teacher Appreciation Week is your opportunity to show appreciation to teachers, who have arguably the most important job of all—to educate our young people. I encourage each of you to join me in acknowledging and celebrating the crucial role that teachers play in making sure every student receives a quality education. Taking a moment to write an email, send a greeting card or share words of encouragement can do a great deal to show an educator that they are appreciated.

As we advance our efforts to serve our students and strengthen our schools, let’s continue to take advantage of opportunities to salute our teachers, whose diligence and perseverance enable each of us to be lifelong learners and responsible, engaged citizens. Every student in Newark deserves to be in a truly excellent public school and we must remain committed to attaining that goal – no matter how difficult. Great teachers have a life-altering effect on students and have the power to unlock the incredible potential within each of them.

I am sincerely grateful to all members of the NPS community, who I know wake up every day to create the conditions for our teachers to be great. Our teachers and our students deserve it.

In service,
Cami
