The Office of Bilingual, ESL and World Language Education proudly announced that 255 students received the NJ State Seal of Biliteracy on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Science Park High School. This prestigious recognition celebrates students' proficiency in two or more languages, underscoring the District's commitment to fostering linguistic diversity and multicultural competence. Superintendent León expressed immense pride in all the students, highlighting their dedication and hard work. Remarkably, three students achieved the Seal of Biliteracy for their English, Spanish, and Portuguese fluency. At the same time, Jeferson DeAlmeida distinguished himself by earning the Seal for an astonishing four languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French.
This accomplishment is particularly significant as it reflects the students' exceptional linguistic abilities and dedication to mastering multiple languages, skills highly valued in the increasingly globalized society. The NJ State Seal of Biliteracy recognizes academic achievement and enhances students' college and career opportunities by validating their bilingual or multilingual proficiency. Such achievements demonstrate the success of the District's world language and bilingual education programs and the students’ readiness to thrive in diverse cultural and professional environments.
