Inside the NBOE Command Center: Ensuring Safety 24/7

08-Office-of-Safety-&-Security

The NBOE Command Center, located in the Harold Wilson building, operates around the clock to support the safety and security of our district. Staffed 24/7 by highly trained dispatchers, the center is the nerve center of our security operations.

Our dispatchers handle a wide range of responsibilities, including receiving and directing security-related calls for service from NBOE employees, the Newark Police Department, and the general public via landline, cell phone, and two-way radio. When incidents arise, they quickly coordinate responses, deploying our Rapid Response Team and/or Newark Police Department as needed.

The Command Center is also home to advanced security technology, including our CRG mapping system, which provides First Responders with real-time electronic maps in case of emergencies. Additionally, a state-of-the-art CCTV monitor wall enables continuous video surveillance of all NBOE properties.

Beyond security calls, our dispatchers monitor and respond to burglar and fire alarm alerts, ensuring that the appropriate response teams are notified immediately.

This dedicated team plays a critical role in keeping our schools, students, and staff safe every day.
