Congratulations to the visual art students selected from Salomé Ureña School and Lafayette Street School, as their artwork has been chosen to represent the Newark Public Schools as finalists for the annual Meet the Breeds Art Contest. This contest effectively commemorates the relationship between people and their canine companions via artistic expression. Winners of the contest will receive exciting prizes and have their artwork displayed at the AKC Meet the Breeds event at the Javits Center in New York City on January 25-26, 2025.

The annual Meet the Breeds Art Contest encourages young artists from grades K-12 to exhibit their creativity and affection for dogs. Engaging in the Meet the Breeds Art Contest transcends mere opportunities for prize acquisition. This presents an opportunity for young emerging artists to attain recognition for their skills, interact with the community, and deepen their understanding of the intriguing realm of dogs. Above all, it is an enjoyable and informative method to merge a passion for art and animals.
