NBOE Celebrates Success in Interdisciplinary Professional Development

PD

On May 3, 2024 NBOE Speech-Language Specialists (SLS), Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists came together to kick off the celebration with interdisciplinary professional development. In partnership with The SteppingStones Group, NBOE related service providers were educated on the most up-to-date research in the area of Sensory Processing. Related service providers then worked collaboratively to utilize the sensory processing strategies learned to design effective therapy sessions for students. Interdisciplinary collaboration provided an opportunity for noted providers to learn from one another and to elevate service delivery to District students.

Many of NBOE SLSs are heavily involved in the New Jersey Speech-Language Hearing Association (NJSHA), NJ’s professional organization for SLSs. This year, 11 NBOE SLSs attended NJSHA’s Annual Convention in Atlantic City. They presented sessions and publications, were able to gain valuable insights from industry experts, learn about new research in Evidence Based Practices, and participate in interactive workshops and discussions. Building Strong Reciprocal Partnerships and working as an Integrated System of Support, NBOE related service providers celebrate Continuous Learning for All
