[Newark, NJ] Newark Public Schools proudly congratulates President Council on the notable achievement of attaining the New Jersey School Board Association Master Board Certification. This prestigious recognition is a testament to President Council's dedication to excellence in educational leadership.
President Council's journey on the Newark Board of Education began with his election in 2020. His efforts have been marked by a dedication to continuous improvement. From the outset, he seized opportunities for professional growth, swiftly earning the designation of Certified New Board Member and Certified Board Member within months of being sworn in.
In September 2023, after three years of dedicated service, Mr. Council was elected President, a role in which he consistently demonstrates professionalism, consensus building, and exemplary leadership skills. His passion for education and advocacy extends beyond Newark, as evidenced by his role as the Essex County School Board Association’s Second Vice President for Legislation.
In just three years, President Council ascended to the prestigious position of Master Board Member, a distinguished accolade that acknowledges his commitment to professional development in crucial areas central to effective school board governance. This accomplishment reflects his dedication and also exemplifies Newark Public Schools' commitment to fostering leaders who continually strive for excellence.
“We commend President Council for this achievement and well-deserved milestone. We express our gratitude for his tireless efforts in enhancing governance. His journey, as a child of this City and product of this school district, serves as inspiration to the entire Newark community, reinforcing our collective dedication to providing the highest quality education for our students,” said Superintendent Roger Leόn.
President Council said, “As a dedicated board member, I recognize the importance of my role and it is that commitment which drives me to continually enhance my understanding of board governance to continue to help the District move in the right direction”.
