UN International Women’s Day West Side High School students in the L.E.O. Program were in the room witnessing an incredible gathering of changemakers at the UN International Women’s Day Commemoration! This year’s theme, For ALL Women and Girls, marked the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration—a powerful reminder that equality is non-negotiable.

Key Takeaways: Women’s Rights = Human Rights – We can’t wait until 2065 for equality! Education & Tech = Power – Denying access means silencing the next leaders. 1 in 3 girls faces violence – Action, funding & accountability are critical. Bodily autonomy is a RIGHT, not a privilege – 82M+ girls yearly are stripped of safety. Diversity & inclusion matter – Representation in leadership, arts, and business creates change.

Inspired by global voices: Olympic Champion Gymnast@alyraisman, Goodwill Ambassador for Africa Jaha Dukureh, Brazilian Principal Ballerina at Dance Theater of Harlem Ingrid Silva, Afghanistan CEO Rita Mahboob, who's movie "Breading the Rules" opened this weekend & powerful essay reading by 10 year old Ishani Desai—proof that the next generation is ready to lead! These West Side Students are equipped! The fight isn’t over. Empower. Advocate. Act.
