Team Champions from Barringer’s Baseball team, East Side’s Softball and Boys’ Volleyball teams, and West Side’s Girls’ and Boys’ Track teams pose with their first place trophies
Congratulations are in order to the following schools whose student-athletes led their teams to victory in their respective Newark Board of Education Spring Athletics Championships:
- Baseball: Barringer defeated East Side 11-4
- Softball: East Side defeated Technology 17-4
- Boys’ Volleyball: East Side defeated Barringer 2-1
- Girls’ Track: West Side defeated East Side 95-73
- Boys’ Track: West Side defeated University & Barringer 166-70
In addition, more than 35 of the city’s top players, representing nine different high schools, participated in the annual Newark’s Finest All-Star Baseball Showcase, an event put together by the district’s baseball coaches.
