Newark Vocational High School Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On Thursday, October 29, Superintendent Roger León announced the opening of Newark Vocational High School, welcoming students to a newly renovated building that recently won a silver medal award for architectural design.

The mission of Newark Vocational High School is to provide its students with a rigorous curriculum that will prepare them for a path toward college and career readiness. The ultimate goal is to cultivate creative and innovative students by having dedicated staff with high expectations, who will prepare them to compete globally. Featuring Academies in Culinary Arts, Hospitality & Tourism, and Graphic Design, students will have an opportunity to earn college credits, internships, and certifications, preparing them to pursue careers as Executive Chefs, Sous Chefs, Certified Hospitality & Tourism Professionals, Graphic Designers, Product Developers, and Multi-Media Artists to name a few.

Superintendent Roger León was joined by Board Member Hasani Council, Board Member Flohisha Johnson, Councilwoman LaMonica McIver, Principal Kyle Brown, Associate Dean Rose Gonnella of Kean University, Ms. Janine Nunez, of Hudson County Community College, Mr. Phillip Masiello of the Hygrade Business Group, former principal Ms. Deborah Mitchell-DeBerry, members of the Facilities Department, faculty, staff, parents, students, and invited guests.
