The Newark Board of Education’s Office of Student Life, in partnership with Soles4Souls and the COACH Foundation, hosted a heartwarming Teacher Appreciation Event that left educators feeling overjoyed, excited, and deeply grateful.
More than 250 dedicated teachers and staff from Avon Avenue School, Dr. E. Alma Flagg School, and Chancellor Avenue School were honored for their commitment to fostering Social Emotional Learning (SEL) through the District’s RethinkEd platform. The celebration took place on May 14, 2025, at the Marion Bolden Center from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
The McKinney-Vento and HIB/Title IX departments teamed up with Soles4Souls to create an unforgettable experience. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the thoughtful gesture, describing it as a much-needed moment of recognition and community.
One of the event’s highlights was the distribution of exclusive Coach products, which were presented as a “Gift of Gratitude” to acknowledge the unwavering dedication of staff members to SEL. The following schools and departments were especially recognized for their outstanding efforts:
