Isabel Marques

Ms. Marques is entering her 22nd year as an educator 20 of which have been within the Newark Board of Education. She is a graduate of Rutgers University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. Post-graduation, Ms. Marques worked in the private sector, prior to beginning her teaching career at a private school in Elizabeth. During this time, her passion for education was ignited and her teaching certification was obtained. In 2003, Ms. Marques was proud to be hired at Ann Street School, her Alma Mater where she attended as a student for 8 years. Throughout her 10 years as a teacher, Ms. Marques worked diligently to earn her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. She was promoted to Vice Principal at Ann Street School where she took a special focus in Mathematics, Science and the Middle School grade span, while developing her leadership across the school community. As the newly appointed Principal of Ann Street School, she firmly believes that all students can learn if they are in a positive and nurturing environment. As Principal, she aspires to build and maintain a school culture and educational program that promotes academic achievement, while focusing on the individual needs of each student. Ms. Marques is thrilled to take on this new role at Ann Street School, where she has devoted her heart and soul as a student, teacher and administrator.
