Empowerment Leadership Summit Inspires Girls Academy of Newark Students

More than 60 girls, ages 10 and over, attended the Girls Academy of Newark (GAN)Empowerment Leadership Summit which took place at the school in late March. The day was designed to highlight the skills essential for future female leaders and to create a positive academic school culture in a supportive, structured, compassionate environment.
Panelists who attended the summit were (l-r) GAN Principal Kimberly White, University High School Graduate/College Student Noelle Jordan, Dr. E. Alma Flagg School Principal Aretha Malloy, Education Consultant Tynesha McHarris, City of Newark Recreational and Cultural Affairs Special Events Coordinator Andrea Mason, Newark Police Chief Ivonne Roman, Newark Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Dr. Tiffany Hardrick and GAN parent Cassandra Sellers.Students attend the Young Women’s Health Workshop presented by Newark Community Health Centers staff.
