11/21/18 – Arts High School to CREED II NYC Red Carpet Premiere
Thanks to a special invitation from Arts High alum, Michael B. Jordan, 21 Arts High School student athletes had the opportunity of a lifetime. On November 14,2018, members of the girls and boys varsity basketball teams boarded a chartered bus where they were escorted to the Creed II premier and boxing experience sponsored by Nike.
To begin the evening, the students went to the Nike headquarters in New York City. Upon arrival, the youngsters were gifted with a gym bag of swag, which included Nike sneakers, boxing gloves, a Creed II t-shirt and more. Once changed into their Nike gear, the students participated in an intense workout lead by Michael B. Jordan’s personal trainer, Corey Calliet.
Once refreshed, the students enjoyed a private, catered dinner at Nike headquarters. The teams then boarded the bus again where they traveled to the AMC Lowes Theater at Lincoln Square. At this red carpet event, the students were able to rub elbows with Creed II actors such as Tessa Thompson, Dolph Lundgren, Corey Calliet, Brigitte Nielsen and of course, the star of the movie, Michael B. Jordan himself. After the excitement of meeting the stars, the students enjoyed popcorn and refreshments as they watched this amazing sequel. This was truly a night to remember for these Arts High School student athletes!
11/21/18 – Students from Arts High School’s music department recently attended Berklee’s City Music Summit in Nashville, Tennessee. City Music is a network of music schools around the country that partner with Berklee College of Music to provide students in their community with high quality contemporary music education. Students from the Jazz Band, Latin Band, and the vocal department were invited by City Music to observe and participate in masterclasses with world class musicians, engage in meaningful discussions with professional songwriters and performers in the field, and to connect with other students from City Music through improvised musical jam sessions. Arts High School students were given the opportunity to perform on the final day of the summit as a culminating farewell performance.
