Social Arts Academy
The Social Arts Academy at Barringer High School Academy offers a three year professional training program for students interested in a career in fine arts or technical fields. The purpose of the Social Arts academy is to challenge our students to use their creativity and passions to develop individualized career pathways. Our students’ are afforded numerous opportunities to experience innovative training in areas such as the fundamentals of art and composition, dance, drama and theatrical performances, financial literacy, computer applications, sociology, and more. These classes are geared to prepare students for entrance into higher educational institutions as well as professional careers. During the final year of their high school experience, social arts students will acquire 30 hours of field experience and present their senior portfolios and presentations to a review panel for approval. 2015-2016 is the birth year of our academy so some components may be in the planning phase. A planning board will be developed consisting of administration, teachers, parents, students and community members.
