Good questions
Esports, explained.
What is scholastic esports?
It is organized competition between school teams in selected video games, with coaching, practice, rules, and teamwork. Our signature competitive game is Rocket League, which combines car control, soccer, positioning, and coordinated team play.
Do I have to be an expert to express interest?
You can start by talking with Coach Lima about your experience and goals. He can explain current openings, selection procedures, and ways to develop. Contacting the coach does not guarantee a competition roster spot.
When and where does the team meet?
Ask Coach Lima for the current practice location, meeting days, match times, and attendance expectations. League schedules can change, and the coach’s instructions should guide your plans.
Which games can I play for Data Science?
Rocket League is our championship program. Ask Coach Lima about this season’s school teams and available games. A game appearing on the GSE website does not mean Data Science currently fields a team in it.
Do I need to buy a gaming computer?
The program began with a school esports lab supported by The Loyalty Foundation. Before buying equipment or creating competition accounts, ask Coach Lima what the school provides and what current players need.
Can esports connect to college or careers?
Yes. GSE offers college recruiting and skill-building opportunities for players and students interested in broadcasting, production, and event work. Participation, admission, and scholarships depend on the opportunity and its requirements. Keep your academics strong and work with your counselor.
