School Uniforms
All Newark Board of Education students (Pre-K to 12th Grade) are required to wear school uniforms. School Uniforms enhance school safety, promote school pride, create a sense of unity amongst students, improve the learning environment, bridge socioeconomic differences between children, promote good behavior, improve children’s self-respect and self-esteem and produce cost savings for participating families.
Clothing Guidelines
Students will wear uniforms in their respective school colors. Clothing must be sized to fit the student. Pants should fit appropriately and should not be too tight or too loose. Shirts should be appropriate size and should not extend below the hip. It is acceptable for students with special religious beliefs and/or special needs or extenuating circumstances to wear head coverings.

School Uniforms & Approved School Gear
All students at Newark School of Data Science & Information Technology are expected to be in approved school uniform or approved school gear every day beginning on the first day of school.
Students may wear only:
- The standard school uniform
- Approved school gear purchased from Jilly's School Store or the Data Drip Shop
- Approved athletic, club, or team gear representing Data Science, such as Data Science Circuits basketball, Volleyball, robotics, and other approved team and club apparel
Other hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, or apparel may not be worn as a substitute for the school uniform.

Jilly's School Store
Jilly's School Store offers approved Data Science polos, hoodies, and zip-up sweatshirts. Orders are placed online and delivered directly to your home.
Data Drip Shop
The Data Drip Shop is a separate school gear option offering a wider variety of Data Science apparel. Orders are delivered directly to students at school.

Orders from Data Drip will be delivered directly to students at school.
Important: Although hats and skull caps are available for purchase, students may not wear hats or other headwear inside the school building.
Two Stores, Different Options
Jilly's School Store and the Data Drip Shop are two separate approved school gear options. They offer different styles, merchandise, ordering methods, and delivery options. Families may choose whichever store best meets their needs and do not need to purchase from both.
Please purchase uniforms and approved school gear before school begins so that students are prepared and in uniform on Day One.
