Your next steps
How to apply
Submit your Newark Enrolls application
Apply for ninth grade for the 2027–2028 school year and include Data Science on your school list. If we are your first choice, rank us #1 so your application reflects that preference.
Complete your applicant profile
All Data Science applicants should complete our Applicant Profile & Student Interest Form. Share your interests, goals, school ranking from 1–8, and a short essay in your own voice.
Upload available school documents
Use the form to share current eighth grade grades, your seventh grade final report card, a middle school transcript, available assessment results, and optional supporting work.
Need help or have records to send separately? Email Ms. Durango and Dr. Summey with your full name and current school.
Watch for admissions next steps
Our team will contact applicants with additional information about review, interview arrangements, and any outstanding requirements. Complete the district high school entrance exam and follow the official Newark Enrolls timeline.
The applicant profile supplements your Newark Enrolls application. Admission is selective and depends on admissions criteria and available seats. Ranking Data Science #1 or submitting the form does not guarantee admission.

Questions families ask
Do I need prior coding or technology experience?
No prior coding experience is required to complete the applicant profile. Tell us what interests you, what you enjoy learning, and how you hope to grow. Examples from school, home, and your community are welcome.
What should I write about in the short essay?
Explain why Data Science interests you. Describe an interest, experience, or question that makes you curious, and how you hope to learn, contribute, and grow here. Aim for 150–250 words in your own voice.
How does ranking Data Science #1 work?
Rank schools in your true order of preference. If Data Science is your first choice, place us first. Newark Enrolls considers your school preferences in its matching process; magnet admissions criteria and available seats also apply.
What if I need help with the form or documents?
Contact our enrollment team below. If you cannot upload records, email them to Ms. Durango and Dr. Summey with the student’s full name and current school. Ask our team about language assistance or scheduling a visit.
Are seats available for upperclassmen in grades 10–12?
Families of students currently in grades 10–12 may contact us to discuss available seats and transfer consideration. Email the student’s current high school transcript, including all completed high school coursework, to Dr. Summey and Ms. Durango for review and to request an appointment.
