Parent Information
Dear 13th Avenue School Families:
As principal of 13th Avenue School, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to another productive and exciting school year. I know that as a society we are engulfed in difficult times. As a school community we strive to provide you and your child(ren) with support and resources that will ensure safety, stability, and success. As we prepare for a new school year amidst a global pandemic we are fully equipped to provide the best instruction for your child. This letter is to ensure you are clear about the two instructional options. Our goal this year, in addition to educating our students, is to ensure their health and safety. Based on the attached letter from the Superintendent Leon, executive orders from the Governor Murphy, and guidelines from the CDC we are planning the following hybrid instructional models that will include virtual and in person options.
❏ Virtual Instruction
All parents who want their child to continue to go to school virtually should fill out the Full-Time Remote Learning Consent form via SchoolMint, our online platform, with the appropriate login credentials for completing your child’s 2020-2021 registration. If you wish to elect full-time remote instruction, please complete that consent form in SchoolMint no later than August 14, 2020. If you choose this option you will receive the Virtual Learning Student Handbook with further details about the schedule, structure, expectations and when to pick up your child’s learning at home resources.
❏ In-Person Instruction (Limited spots available in compliance with the federal CDC)
The in person model provides students with 100% in person instruction. This model has limited space and can only accommodate a maximum of 10 students per class. This is necessary to ensure that students will remain 6 feet apart at all times. Students will be allowed to attend school 5 days a week from 8:25-2:55. Students will follow a traditional school day academic structure. To ensure safety and prevent the spread of COVID 19 we have extensive safety and sanitizing protocols in place that follow the CDC guidelines. If you choose this option you will receive the Student Handbook with further information about the schedule, structure, procedures, and expectations.
It is vital that you go to Newark Enrolls and complete all required forms for new enrollment AND registering returning students. Our Clerks are available to assist you with your needs during this process. Please locate your appropriate Clerk by your child’s grade for further assistance.
