Cinematography
The Cinematography Cluster introduces students to the exciting and creative world of film, media, and visual storytelling. In these courses, students learn how to plan, shoot, and edit films while exploring the artistic and technical sides of production. From camera operation and lighting to directing and post-production editing, this cluster offers hands-on experiences that prepare students for college programs and careers in film, television, and digital media.Students will explore the fundamentals of storytelling, cinematography, and production design while gaining experience with professional cameras, editing software, and industry techniques. Through real-world projects, they’ll learn how to write scripts, film scenes, direct actors, and create visual narratives that captivate audiences.
Course Progession
Cinematography I
Cinematography I is the first course in our sequence. Students explore the history of filmmaking and learn the basics of screenwriting, shooting, lighting, audio, and editing while creating and editing their own videos to build a strong foundation in cinematography and production.
Cinematography II
- Cinematography II is the second course in our sequence. Students deepen their skills in storyboarding, cinematography, lighting editing, sound, and color correction while preparing for competitions, entering film festivals, building a portfolio, and completing a capstone project to showcase their growth.
Cinematography III
- Cinematography III is the final course in film sequence. Students produce short films, animated PSAs, and personal memoirs while sharpening skills in cinematography, editing, sound, and animation. They refine their talents, explore career paths, and connect with industry professionals to prepare for life after high school.
