Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. Fostering that education is a job shared by parents, teachers, administrators, family and friends. My goal is to make sure your child has a safe and happy place to come to each day while ensuring sustained success. I am so excited to be a part of the exceptional Mount Vernon School family and look forward to doing my part in helping our students soar.
Ms. Minnyone Davis
Vice Principal
“I am honored to join the Mount Vernon Elementary School Lions, and am excited to grow with our school team and community! Education is very important to me, as a mom, grandmother, and as a life-long learner. I have earned a Bachelor’s, Master’s and an Advanced Degree, and have goals to obtain my EdD or PhD. I absolutely love being a student, which is why I love being a teacher, and thus, love being a school-leader.
In my over 28 years as an educator, one of the fundamental understandings that I have reached, is that school culture and vision directly affect overall teacher productivity and student achievement. Both attributes, while not solely influenced by leadership, are greatly impacted by school leadership and the culture we establish in our school-wide educational ecosystem. For me, it is essential as a transformational leader, to support the vision of my school Principal, and to team with our MVP’s (Most Valuable Players), the teachers, and all other valuable stakeholders in our school-community, to work with fidelity and a clear purpose of fostering a school culture that closes achievement gaps for all students, provides a high-quality enriching educational experience for all students, and lives up to high standards of educational excellence and equity. I’m ready to hear our Lions roar!”

Education fosters lifetime learners who think critically and engage in reflective practices for continuous academic and social-emotional development. My goal is to support a learning environment in which our students feel safe, celebrated, and empowered to be student leaders in our community. The culture of care for students and staff is visible in every detail of the school. I am deeply honored to join the Mt. Vernon Family.
