Dear Mount Vernon School Families
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! Our core belief, R.O.A.R. (Respect Others and Rise) It is my pleasure to welcome both our returning and new families to Mount Vernon School. I hope your summer has been filled with rest, joy, and quality time with loved ones.
This year’s theme is: Watch Us Glow and Grow Together! At Mount Vernon School, we believe every child has the potential to shine. Together, we will provide a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous environment where every scholar grows socially, emotionally, and academically. Through strong partnerships between home and school, we will continue to inspire excellence.
Student success is strongest when families and schools work together. We ask that you:
- Ensure students attend school every day and arrive on time.
- Encourage students to complete assignments and come prepared to learn.
- Stay connected with teachers through ClassDojo, PowerSchool, our website, and social media.
First Day of School: Tuesday, September 8, 2026
- School Hours: 8:10 a.m. – 3:05 p.m.
- Breakfast will be served beginning at 8:15 a.m.
- Arrival, dismissal, class assignments, and transportation information will be shared before school begins through our website, ClassDojo, and social media.
- Students should bring:
- Completed summer assignments (will be collected and graded)
- A backpack and basic school supplies
Before school begins, please:
- Complete your child’s Lunch Application.https: Lunch application

- Update emergency contacts.
- Review transportation information.( If applicable)
Please Note: Students will only be released to approved emergency contacts. A valid photo ID is required for all student pick-ups, including early dismissal. Also early dismissal cut off is at 2:15pm. If early dismissal is necessary due to doctor's appointments or an emergency, please contact Ms. Lopez, Attendance Counselor. A doctor's note will be expected. More attendance information will be forthcoming.

Students are expected to wear the required school uniform daily. Gym uniforms should only be worn on designated days. Crocs, slides, flip-flops, and other open-toed shoes are not permitted.
Chrome books will be distributed after completion of lunch applications.
