Message from the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is with great enthusiasm and a humble spirit that I welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year. Our administrative team has been working diligently to make this an exceptional year for our students. Alongside with our amazing teachers and staff, I am blessed to work with our Vice Principals this year: Dr. Rasheedah Muhammad in charge of grades Pre-K-1, Victoria Litterio in charge of grades 2-4, Germaine Jenkins 5-6, and Mr. Matthew Madeira 7-8. Mr. Matthew Madeira will be in charge of Special Education/Autism program grades PSD-8.
On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, we will be having a Back to School BBQ & Free Backpack Giveaway from 2-4:00pm on the playground (through the back of the building by Ruggerio Plaza & 7th Avenue.) We will be supporting families with student registration, completion of lunch applications, uniforms, and much more! You don’t want to miss this amazing event for our community!
As a team, we have a beautiful vision for where our school is moving and I look forward to working with you to ensure our students have a world class educational experience. Please note the following important information below:

Important Reminders
- Please complete your lunch application and SchoolMint Re-Enrollment before the first day of school. Our goal is to have 100% of students' lunch applications completed before the first day of school.
- Your child’s new teacher will contact you via email and/or phone call prior to the first day of school.
- The first day of school is Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Our school hours are 8:25 am until 2:55 pm.
- Ingress/egress procedures (Entry & Dismissal):
- Grades Pre-K - 5 will enter at 8:25am and exit the school playground at 2:55pm through the back of the building by Ruggerio Plaza & 7th Avenue. The same entrance also applies to all students with special needs Transportation students including those who take transportation services will enter through the front doors, auditorium entrance.
- Grades 6 - 8 will enter at 8:25am and exit the building at 2:55pm through the bridge doors by the main entrance on Colonnade Place.
- Uniforms are mandatory: The Uniform code is as follows:
- Shirts/Blouses: Royal Blue Collared Shirt and Pants/Skirts: Khaki (Beige)
- Shoes: Black, navy blue, or brown in color; no open heel or toes permitted. Shoes must be securely fastened. Clogs, flip-flops, and bedroom slippers are not permitted. No crocs are permitted.
- Physical Education attire: Bottom: Royal Blue or gray, and Top: Gold or Royal Blue
- Locations of where to buy uniforms: Kids Place - 311 Ferry Street; Walmart; Old Navy; Flynn O’Hara
- Summer Reading Assignments: Please be sure your child reads the book that was assigned to them this summer and completes their summer reading assignment.
- Back to School Night will be conducted in person this year and will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023. This is your opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, and to learn what their academic curriculum and goals will be for the school year.

Estimados padres/tutores,
Con gran entusiasmo y un espíritu humilde les doy la bienvenida al año escolar 2023-2024. Nuestro equipo administrativo ha estado trabajando diligentemente para hacer de este un año excepcional para nuestros estudiantes. Junto con nuestros increíbles maestros y personal, tengo la suerte de trabajar con nuestros subdirectores este año: Dra. El miércoles, 30 de agosto de 2023, tendremos una Bbq de Regreso a la Escuela y un Sorteo de Mochila Gratis de 2:00 p. m. a 4:00 p.m., en el patio de recreo en la parte trasera del edificio por Ruggerio Plaza y 7th Avenue. ¡Estaremos apoyando a las familias con el registro, completar las solicitudes de almuerzo, uniformes y mucho más! ¡No querrá perderse este increíble evento para nuestra comunidad!

Recordatorios Importantes
- Complete su Solicitud de Almuerzo y la Reinscripcion de SchoolMint antes del primer día de clases. Nuestro objetivo es tener el 100% de las solicitudes de almuerzo de los estudiantes completadas antes del primer día de clases.
- El nuevo maestro de su hijo se comunicará con usted por correo electrónico y/o llamada telefónica antes del primer día de clases.
- El primer día de clases es el martes 5 de septiembre de 2023. Nuestro horario escolar es de 8:25 am a 2:55 pm.
- Procedimientos de ingreso/egreso (entrada y salida):
- Los grados Pre-K - 5 entrarán a las 8:25 a. m. y saldrán del patio de recreo de la escuela a las 2:55 p. m. por la parte trasera del edificio en Ruggerio Plaza y 7th Avenue.
- Los grados 6 a 8 entrarán a las 8:25 a. m. y saldrán del edificio a las 2:55 p. m. a través de las puertas del puente junto a la entrada principal en Colonnade Place.
- Los estudiantes que viajan a la escuela en el autobús, ingresarán por la entrada cerca del auditorio, a la derecha de la entrada principal.
- Los uniformes son obligatorios: El código de uniforme es el siguiente:
- Camisas/Blusas: Camisa con cuello azul real y pantalones/Faldas: Caqui (Beige)
- Zapatos: De color negro, azul marino o marrón; no se permite el talón ni los dedos abiertos. Los zapatos deben estar bien sujetos. No se permiten zuecos, chancletas ni pantuflas. No se permiten crocs.
- Vestimenta de educación física: Abajo: azul real o gris, y arriba: dorado o azul real
- Ubicaciones de dónde comprar uniformes: Kids Place - 311 Ferry Street; Walmart; Old Navy; FlynnO'Hara
- Tareas de lectura de verano: asegúrese de que su hijo lea el libro que se le asignó este verano y complete su tarea de lectura de verano.
