Admissions

The Science Park High School Board of Admissions is seeking to recruit top Newark scholars who are committed to academic excellence in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students should have solid character, well-rounded interests, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to better our school and the greater Newark community. 

9th Grade

Admissions Process

2025-2026 Admission Requirements include the following:

Report Card Grades
2023-2024 Final Report Card for 7th Grade
2024-2025 Current Report Card for 8th Grade
Attendance Records
2023-2024 Total absences as noted on the 7th grade report card
2024-2025 Total absences to date as noted on the 8th grade report card
NBOE Entrance Exam

New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) - Math & English Language Arts
Test scores from 23-24 SY & 24-25 SY, and other standardized test scores available from your school.
A score of Level 4 - ¨Meets Expectations” or Level 5 - ¨Exceeds Expectations” is required on both the NJSLA-Math and NJSLA-ELA exams. Private school applicants should also demonstrate proficiency on their most recent standardized tests.

No exam required for 7th Graders
New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) - Math & English Language Arts

Please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Applicants must apply via the SchoolMint system. Applications must be completed in full, including all of the admission requirements listed above. Incomplete applications may negatively impact your chance of admission. Tip: Parents are responsible for obtaining all students' records directly from their current school and uploading the documents into SchoolMint before the application window closes. 
  • Please be advised that Science Park High School has a deep respect for student choice and voice. Therefore, serious applicants should rank Science Park #1 when completing the SchoolMint application. Priority will be given to those applicants first.
