The Anthony C. Orsini Media Center

The Anthony C. Orsini School Library Media Center (SLMC) at the First Avenue School provides students with a multitude of reading materials, ranging from non-fiction, fiction, biographical, reference and non-print resources. With over 10,000 print materials available, learners can engage in reading for pleasure, investigate specific topics of interest and develop fundamental research skills for curriculum-based subject matters. Located on the 2nd floor of the school in room 227, the SLMC has been designed within a circular space, providing an open, welcoming atmosphere to all users. With abundant seating and work areas, learners of all ages can collaborate and engage in learning individually or in groups.

Using the Newark Public School district’s online databases, learners can further extend the library experience outside of the school. EbscoHost, eLibrary, Grolier and other databases are accessible to students from home to further enhance their information needs. With materials ranging from the pre-kindergarten to 8th grade levels, learners will find materials that will best suit their interests and information needs. A full-time, certified School Library Media Specialist is readily available to assist each learner in their quest for information and learning from their start, well into their upper-grade years.
