Welcome Back Letter 2022

August 22, 2022

Dear Parents and Students,

I am delighted to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year and hope that you and your family are safe and in good health. I am excited to take on the responsibility of being your principal at New Jersey Regional Day. Before moving on, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Larry Ramkissoon, and I am a veteran educator with more than 25 years of experience. In that time, I have served as a classroom teacher, staff developer, teacher coach, vice principal, and principal in both elementary and high schools. These experiences taught me a lot and I believe that they will complement the work that is already underway at New Jersey Regional Day.

I am a teacher at heart and a parent with two children of my own, Alex and Alek. In my work with them and with the other young people that I have worked with, I have often been reminded that every student is different in the way they acquire knowledge. I have used this understanding to help shape my educational philosophy. At the core of this philosophy is the belief that we must be prepared to meet the diverse learning styles that our students arrive with and do all that we can to help them accomplish their goals.

In my preparation for taking on the role of principal, I noticed the tight-knit culture that exists at New Jersey Regional Day, one in which the school and family work collaboratively to support the individual growth plans of our students. I understand the importance and value of the staff as a part of the teaching and learning experience and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with you to create the most compassionate, caring, and supportive environment for our students. I look forward to meeting you over the next few weeks so that we can continue the incredible work of ensuring that our students optimize their potential.

As we prepare for the return to school, please take a moment to review the following:

  • If your child requires transportation to school, that has been arranged. You will receive the name of the company assigned to transport your child along with their phone number. You should contact this company to establish a pick-up and drop-off time.
  • The first day of school is September 6, 2022.
  • Students will continue to wear masks, as they have been doing for the last two years.
  • Students will continue to follow the health and safety guidelines already in place.
  • Back to School Night is September 27, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 973 705-3820 or by email at lramkissoon@nullnps.k12.nj.us. We thank you for your continued support and commitment to your child’s education.

Sincerely,

Larry Ramkissoon

Estimados Padres y Estudiantes,

Sinceramente,

Larry Ramkissoon
