2 Global Studies Student Ambassadors & Model UN Team Members attend a local “Naturalization Ceremony at the US Citizens and Immigration Services Office of the US District Court in Newark, NJ”
May 28, 2026
Congratulations to our 2 Student Ambassadors who witnessed a Naturalization Ceremony this past month. Newark School of Global Studies Model UN Team Members and Student Ambassadors: Tatiana Cintron and Freddy Penefiel, attended the Naturalization Ceremony at the US Citizens and Immigration Services Office at the US District Court in Newark, NJ. They witnessed 101 people from 32 countries gain U.S. citizenship. This powerful experience deepened their understanding of the immigrant journey and the significance of civic participation. They were gifted their own copy of the US Constitution and a US flag as a memorabilia. Tatiana Cintron shared that she was unaware of the process to earn citizenship, including how rigorous it was. Both students expressed a strong desire to attend similar events more frequently to continue learning about the diverse stories that shape our community and to inspire their own commitment to global citizenship. It is our goal to continue exposing our students to more ceremonies throughout the year. #Global Leaders
