Newark, NJ – June 23, 2026 – Bard High School Early College Newark proudly announced the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026, which took place at the Newark Symphony Hall’s Terrace Ballroom. The ceremony commenced at 6:00 PM, celebrating the achievements and milestones of the graduating students. Remarkably, every member of the Class of 2026 successfully earned their high school diploma, continuing the tradition set by the previous graduating class, which also achieved a 100% graduation rate.

Dr. Rafael Inoa, who served as the Principal of Bard High School Early College Newark during the time of the ceremony, but has since transitioned from the role by the date of this press release, began the event with a warm welcome. This year’s Student Speaker was Sheekira King and the keynote address was delivered by Kutorkor Kotey. Ms. Kotey is a distinguished alumna and Product Manager at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Her inspiring career and commitment to empowering the next generation exemplified the values Bard instills in its students.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of diplomas by Dr. Rafael Inoa, alongside Vice Principal Dr. Mini Jayaprakash and Dr. Tiffany Sims, Chair of the Mathematics Department. Riley Shaw-Ledbetter was honored as Valedictorian and Karen Nicole Inahuazo as Salutatorian. The evening also featured student speeches, awards presentations, and a special dance tribute by Aniyla Touchstone of the Class of 2027.

We extended our heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2026 and expressed our gratitude to the families, faculty, staff, and community partners for their unwavering support and dedication. In addition to the high school graduation, the Associate Degree Commencement was held on June 22, 2026. Pictures from the associate degree ceremony will be posted on the school website at a later date.
