Dr. Puicon recognized by Newark NAACP

Deborah Smith-Gregory, NAACP Newark President, recognized Professor Puicon for her excellence in teaching Black history at Bard High School Early College. Dr. Puicon will join Mr. Muldrow of Shabazz and Ms. Suggs of Oliver Street School on this year’s Teacher Honor Roll. Congratulations Dr. Puicon!

Dr. Agapito selected as I CAN STEM Role Model

Dr. Agapito has been selected as an inductee of the 2022 New Jersey Class of I CAN STEM role models by the New Jersey STEM Pathways Network (NJSPN). She was nominated and selected from among a highly competitive pool of applicants.

Launched in 2020, the NJSPN’s I CAN STEM diversity and inclusion campaign aims to support an increase in the diversity of New Jersey’s STEM workforce and academic pipelines. I CAN STEM highlights diverse STEM role models so that all students will be able to see themselves participating and succeeding in STEM courses and careers.Visit https://njstempathways.org/i-can-stem/ to see more about this initiative.

Dr. Woo wins fellowship, publishes poetry

Dr. Woo has been awarded an Early College Research Institute Fellowship from Bard College. Her project focuses on Asian American scholarship and will culminate in a presentation to the entire Bard network. She also recently published two poems in an anthology of poetry about dance. See more here.  Because of her excellent work, Dr. Woo has been invited to join a new, innovative group of teachers called The Pivotal Network, affiliated with of Georgetown University. The Network focuses on equity issues in college admissions, with a particular focus on first- generation and low-income students. Read more here.

Professor Stedge receives Curatorial Dance Fellowship

Professor Stedge has been awarded a Curatorial Fellowship in Dance at SMUSH Gallery, in Jersey City. The project is in process and performances will take place in April. Read more about the gallery here:
