In collaboration with the Greater Newark Conservancy, and volunteers from a Newark-bases STEAM organization, scholars from PreK to 8th grade rotated in the orchard, to beautify our neighborhood and build their knowledge.

On Sunday, June 6, 2021, George Clinton, the godfather of funk music, stopped by his alma mater Avon Avenue School!

Principal Charity Haygood and teacher Marc Harris were there to greet Mr. Clinton. Now in his 80, Mr. Clinton shared with Principal Haygood that he created Parliament when he was a 5th grade student at Avon Avenue School in the 1950s!
