Angela D. Davis
Principal
Angela Davis is a Newark native. Ms. Davis is a product of the Newark Board of Education system and a proud graduate of Rutgers University and Kean University. Ms. Davis is a 20+ year instructional veteran of the Newark Board of Education. Ms. Davis began her career as an elementary teacher in Newark. She then transitioned to working for the Language Arts Literacy department as a Literacy Resource Coordinator. Next she moved into the area of administration in 2010, becoming a vice principal at various locations. In 2019, she became the proud principal of Harriet Tubman School. Ms. Angela Davis loves her students, disrict and is highly passionate about the craft and science of education.
Dana Kelly
Vice Principal
Vice Principal, Dana Kelly has 20 years of experience advancing student achievement, strengthening school systems, and empowering educators. Starting her path in education back in 2000, Mrs. Kelly earned a Bachelors in Elementary Education, a Masters in Educational Technology, and certification of Supervision and Administration.
Mrs. Kelly began her career in Jersey City Public Schools as a classroom teacher where she developed a deep understanding of how rigorous instruction, student engagement, and strong family partnerships drive achievement. Those early years in the classroom continue to anchor her leadership philosophy today.
While working for Springfield Public Schools as the Director of Personnel and Staff Development, Mrs. Kelly spearheaded district-wide improvements that elevated state compliance ratings from 60% to 100% within three months, secured more than $1.3 million in federal funding to support student learning and staff development, and designed audit frameworks that improved operational accuracy.
Mrs. Kelly transitioned into school leadership as Chief Innovation Officer and Vice Principal with Newark Public Schools. In this role, she supervised and coached 24 teachers, achieving a 100% retention rate with all educators rated Effective or Highly Effective. She led the creation and management of a Reading Intervention Program that boosted literacy levels for 75% of Tier II students and designed master schedules for over 600 students and 200 staff. Her leadership also advanced early childhood curriculum integration by 45% and positioned her school at the forefront of Google Suite for Education integration.
