Principal Message

Dear Parents and Scholars,

In the words of our Superintendent, “This is the Moment”. This statement is true for Camden and the school district! I would like to welcome you to the Camden Street School where we provide every student with the skills they need to achieve their dreams!

Recently I took my daughter to New York City to visit the Empire State Building, the tallest building in the world from 1931 to 1970.  The building of this skyscraper, that would capture the attention of the world then and now, was possible through teamwork!  In fact, it was noted, “The high altitude rivet teams performed dangerous work and fully relied on one another to get the job done. If a member was absent, the team world not work.”  Similarly, your children are amazing scholars who will capture the attention of the world now and in the future.  In order to lift our scholars to the breathtaking heights to which we know they are capable, it will take teamwork. We are excited to collaborate with you to raise them up!

Coincidentally, our team has improved as we have expanded our administrative team. The leadership team now includes myself, Vice Principal Alexandra Aguiar (overseeing grades 6-8th), Vice Principal Thomasina McAfee (overseeing grades 3-5) and Vice Principal Teora Brooks Summers (overseeing grades Pre-k-2nd). Additionally, we will continue to offer other electives, sports, and co-curricular activities such asinstrumental music, piano. Disney in Schools, Robotics, Chess, Boys and Girls Basketball, Cheerleading, Debate, Junior National Honor Society, Chorus, Dance, and Soccer.  Some of these scholar activities are made possible because of you completing the school lunch applications.  The completed lunch applications result in additional funding for our school district.

In closing, we will build a deep and firm foundation for our Camden scholars so that they achieve greatness if we do so collectively.  Our success will require careful planning and preparation while keeping in mind what is best for children.  To this end, the Camden staff and I know that the school would not exist if it were not for you and your children. We are grateful, therefore, for your support and your partnership as we work collaboratively to bring our scholars to new heights!
