September 5, 2021
Dear Newark Vocational High School Family,
I trust that we all had a fantastic summer. Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year! This school year is already exciting as we will be in our newly renovated school spaces, a new gym, state-of-the-art technology, an updated sound system in the auditorium, beautiful classroom furniture, and of course a faculty of highly qualified teachers and support staff.
As the new Principal, I am humbled and privilege to join students, faculty, and community stakeholders as we embark on this journey toward trending careers pathways and academic excellence. During the summer, I spent a lot of time meeting with many of you. I am excited about all of the plans we have for the upcoming school year.
Newark Vocational will have 5 main whole school goals:
- Improve Student Attendance
- Improve Student Academic Performance
- Increase Parent & Community Involvement
- Internship/ Job Opportunities in the 3 Career Pathways
- Student Earned Industry Certifications in all of the CTE Academies
I will promote collaborations with all stakeholders. The PTSO, Student Council, Faculty/Staff, Industry and Post-Secondary Partners, and the City of Newark constituents. I believe that every voice in the conversation is valuable and has to contribute to the school community’s development and progress. Our collective potential is unlimited. The Eagles will soar to unimaginable heights and achievements.
Upon our return to school in September 2021, we will be introduced to uniqueness in the school's new normal. Preparations have been made throughout the summer so that all students will feel comfortable and safe when entering Newark Vocational High School. To ensure that all children are healthy, happy, and safe, we need all stakeholders to follow the CDC, NJ state, and Newark district guidelines designed in the safe return plan. Visit this link to see the Newark Board of Education Safe Return plan: https://www.nps.k12.nj.us/safe-return-plan/safe-return-plan-2021-2022.
I, the administrators, and school staff are eager to really get to know our students and support them in every aspect that leads to student growth, academically and socially. However, we must work towards the same goals together. My expectation is that students start this school year off by participating in the following events. We need 100% STUDENT PARTICIPATION:
Everyone reporting to the school building and school grounds is required to wear a face-covering and follow CDC guidelines for social distancing, 6 ft. apart, at all times to protect the safety of everyone.
If you need assistance with enrollment, registration, lunch applications, or if you have any questions or concerns, our school clerks are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm via phone at 973-733-8792 or 973-733-6992.
