Texas Hospitality Association Scholarship

Texas Hospitality Association Scholarship

Texas Hospitality Association Scholarship is open to high school seniors who are graduating from a high school in Texas. The scholarship offers a poster competition on the theme of underage drinking.

Eligible students include those graduating from public, private, charter and home schools. Each student entering the competition must create a poster that will be used in a alcohol awareness campaign across the state. Posters must include the theme, “If you are under 21, it’s illegal to consume or purchase alcoholic beverages in Texas.”

Page Education Foundation Grants

Page Education Foundation Grants

Page Education Foundation Grants are available to full-time students of color who have graduated from a high school in Minnesota. Eligible applicants must demonstrate financial need and a willingness to tutor students.

This scholarship is based on a Service to Children requirement. Candidates who apply must agree to commit 50 hours of volunteer work tutoring children in grades K-8th grade. The scholarship is renewable; each year the applicant re-applies, they must commit to 50 volunteer hours for each year they receive the grant.

Walt Disney/ United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Corporate Scholars Program

The Walt Disney Company/ UNCF Corporate Scholars Program, supported by a $1 million commitment from The Walt Disney Company, provides scholarships to high-achieving African American students in underserved communities across the country, and offers career readiness tools and resources necessary to help them realize their professional goals in the entertainment industry.

The George Foreman Tribute Scholarship

George Foreman Tribute to Lyndon B. Johnson Scholarship

The George Foreman Tribute to Lyndon B. Johnson Scholarship is awarded every year to a journalism student, but eligible students must be currently enrolled in college and have at least one full academic year remaining.

Students must be at least sophomores to apply and must have one year remaining in school at the time of the award. Students may major in any discipline as long as their goal is to pursue a career in electronic journalism. Students may apply by submitting an application online and a cover letter that describes their experiences in journalism. Links to work samples should be included, along with a letter of recommendation from a dean, faculty advisor or intership advisor.

$10,000 Comeback Clothes Scholarship

$10,000 Comeback Clothes Scholarship

$10,000 Comeback Clothes Scholarship is open to students up to age 26 who want to not only help the environment but also win a college scholarship. No essay or minimum grade point average is required to win this scholarship.

Students may enter the competition by signing up for Comeback Clothes at their local H&M store. They can then begin to collect old and worn-out clothes from within their community or in their school and take them to H&M to be recycled. For every 50 pieces of clothing, they will earn an entry into the scholarship contest.

WyzAnt College Scholarship

WyzAnt College Scholarship

WyzAnt College Scholarship is open to high school sophomores through college juniors. It is available to students who plan to be or already are enrolled in a four-year college or university.

Students may compete for this scholarship by submitting a 300–word essay that describes how education has empowered them. Essays will be judged by the number of votes received by visitors to WyzAnt’s website.

The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Scholarship Award

The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Scholarship Award awards outstanding students from developing countries pursuing master’s degree studies in the fields of Development or Energy Studies. Students who have completed or are near completion of their undergraduate degree may apply.

Eligible fields of study include economics of development (poverty reduction, energy and sustainable development), environment (desertification), or other science and technology related fields. Applicants must be between the ages of 23-32 and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Candidates must be full-time students at an accredited college/university.

SEFA Student Design Contest

SEFA Student Design Contest

SEFA Student Design Contest is open to high school juniors and seniors, and to full-time college students who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university located in the U.S. Students compete for scholarships by creating innovative designs for any piece of laboratory equipment or furniture.

Students may submit individual entries or in teams of up to three students. Entering the design contest consists of submitting an essay that clearly describes their idea for any piece of laboratory equipment or furniture. Applicants will draw from their lab experience at high school or college when creating a piece of lab furniture that will increase the way students learn in the lab.

IAPMO Scholarship Essay Contest

IAPMO Scholarship Essay Contest is open to high school seniors planning to attend college, or current college students who are enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year college or university, a technical school, community college, or trade school, or an apprentice program.

Students may enter the contest by submitting an essay of 800-1,600 words that relates to the plumbing industry and the important role it has in our lives. Students may submit one entry only. All entries must be original work of the student and will be judged by the Board of Directors at the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials. Three winners will be chosen.

The Gates Corporation Scholarship

The Gates Corporation Scholarship is open to high school seniors interested in a career in engineering. Candidates are selected from students who have participated on a FIRST Robotics Competition Team.

The FIRST Robotics Competition is a chance for high school students age 9-12 to use their skills in science and technology to build a robot. Students entering the competition design and build their own robot that can perform tasks that will compete against other competitors. Students work on teams and get a taste of real world engineering.

Toshiba International Foundation Scholarships

Toshiba International Foundation Scholarships are for advanced study students who are specializing in Japanese studies at a college or university in Europe. The scholarship covers three months in Japan for project research.

This scholarship is for doctoral students only. Candidates must not have had a previous long-term experience in Japan. The purpose of the scholarship is to foster academic study of Japan.

American Dream Essay Contest

American Dream Essay Contest is open to high school juniors and seniors who plan to attend college. The contest requires students to write about their experience of growing up in a home they could call their own.

Home ownership is often called the American Dream. The purpose of the essay contest is to foster more thinking among young people about owning a home of their own one day. To enter the contest, students must submit an essay between 500-1000 words that answers one of three proposed essay questions. The essays will give students an opportunity to discuss their viewpoint on the importance of owning a home, or it can discuss their experience helping to build homes for others through Habitat For Humanity volunteer work.

Honeywell Innovators Scholarship Program

Honeywell Innovators Scholarship Program

Honeywell Innovators Scholarship Program is open to students pursuing their Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degrees and will be entering their final academic year of study. The program combines a paid internship at a Honeywell facility, and scholarship money to apply toward the final year of school.

The scholarship program is offered at 18 target universities in China, the Czech Republic, India, Mexico and the United States. The amount of each scholarship varies based on the country in which the student works. Eligible areas of study include aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics and communication, computer engineering, and instrumentation.

KODAK Student Scholarship

KODAK Student Scholarship recognizes both undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate exceptional skills in film making. The scholarship program includes both a tuition scholarship and a motion picture film grant.

Eligible students must be enrolled full-time at an accredited film school. Students must be nominated by their school. Three scholarships and grants are awarded each year to deserving students. The awards include Gold, Silver and Bronze awards, each including both a scholarship and a motion picture film grant.

Sub Pop Loser Scholarships

Sub Pop Loser Scholarships

Sub Pop Loser Scholarships are offered every year to high school students attending schools in the Pacific Northwest. Applicants must be residents of the states of Washington or Oregon and interested in music or the creative arts.

Eligible students must plan to attend college full-time at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S. They must major in a discipline that includes either music, the arts or a related field.

Josh Gibson Foundation Scholarship

Josh Gibson Foundation Scholarship is offered every year to high school students planning to attend either a college or university or a technical school. Students must have a strong academic record and demonstrate active participation in their communities.

Candidates must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above to apply. The scholarship is based on good grades, community involvement, and a knowledge of the history of the Negro Baseball League. Applicants will be required to write a 500-word essay on the topic.

LeakyCon Academic Scholarship

LeakyCon Academic Scholarship

LeakyCon Academic Scholarship is a merit-based college scholarship that is open to anyone who is planning to attend a two- or four-year college or university. It is designed to attract high-academic students interested in fiction and story telling.

Eligible students must have a grade point average of 3.0 and above. The scholarship consists of completing two essays involving fictional characters from film, literature or television. To apply, students must also include a resume, transcript of grades and one letter of recommendation.

C.I.P. Scholarship

C.I.P. Scholarship

C.I.P. Scholarship is open to students who either plan to attend college or are currently enrolled in college. Students must be age 17 years or older and U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Eligible applicants may attend college full-time or part-time. They may choose to attend a traditional college or university, or an online program. Scholarship money may be used to pay for tuition, books, room and board, computers or any other college-related expense.

PBA/NCA Minerva Beauty Scholarship

PBA/NCA Minerva Beauty Scholarship is available to students currently enrolled in an accredited cosmetology school. Five scholarships are awarded each year.

Eligible students must have completed at least one semester of school, and they must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Applicants must currently be enrolled in an accredited cosmetology program in the U.S.

 Camille and Bill Cosby Scholarship in Science

The Camille and Bill Cosby Scholarship in Science is awarded to college juniors enrolled at Temple University. It is specifically for students who are majoring in one of the natural sciences and who have graduated from Simon Gratz, Germantown, Central or Girls High School.

Students must be enrolled as juniors at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. One scholarship is awarded each year. The required grade point average is 3.25. The scholarship is renewable an additional year as long as the student maintains a grade point average of 3.0 or above.
