Welcome Back Letter 21-22 SY
August 7, 2021
Dear Ivy Hill Family,
I would like to first thank you for your support, patience, and understanding during this global pandemic. As a building leader, my desire was to return back to school traditionally, but we must continue to be safe, proactive, and prepared to continue to provide our students with the education they very well deserve. Please review the CDC guidelines. I am also including the link to access the District’s Safe Return to School Plan https://www.nps.k12.nj.us/safe-return-plan/safe-return-plan-2021-2022/ .
As we prepare to welcome our students to a year that will look and feel very different, we know there are questions surrounding the reopening plan for September 7, 2021. This letter, however, is to provide you with guidance on our reentry plan and attach our school staff’s contact information if you need assistance or have concerns. The gist of our plan is to keep everyone safe and continue to educate our students.
When coming to school, all staff and students will wear masks, and when necessary, plastic guards will be in place. All children in grades PreK-8 will line up six feet apart, as indicated by marks on the playground, or their designated doors listed by grade. Starting at 8:20, each child will undergo a detailed procedure, including safety check questions ( that must be completed online), hand and shoe sanitizing, and contactless temperature checks. As long as the questions are answered satisfactorily, and the temperature is acceptable, children will enter the building. If a child presents a concern, due to unsatisfactory answers from the questions, or presenting with a fever, they will NOT be permitted in the building. The child will have to return home immediately with a parent or guardian. Should a child get a fever while in school, they will need to be picked up immediately. As of now, students will eat breakfast and lunch in the classroom. Our uniform colors remain the same ( khaki bottoms and green tops).
Please continue to visit the school website for important updates and information (https://www.nps.k12.nj.us/ivy/).
Thank you for your continued support. Stay safe and healthy
Dorrice Rayam-Johnson
