ManUp Hermano Leadership Training: Facilitated by  Jason Cortés, Ph.D., Rutgers University-Newark

Workshop I: “How Do I Afford College”

This workshop will be conducted by Rutgers University-Newark and will include the following topics of discussion: The different resources for first generation students, financial aid, scholarships, grants and loans offered. Facilitated by Rutgers University -Newark Campus

Workshop II: “The Reality of an Athletic Scholarship”

This workshop will explain the “clearing house” process, the Division I and Division II athletes versus the Division III option while explain how not to get into debt. It will also discuss the curriculum that is required to play including the psychological aspect of being an athlete. Facilitated by Da’Mon Merkerson, Temple University

Workshop III: “Breaking Stereotypes”

This workshop will uncover and examine the effects of stereotyping and ways to transition them to something positive. How do you as a young man own some of these stereotypes? The panel will share their own experience as a student and/or professional while providing different ways on overcoming various degrees of stereotyping.Faciliated by Judge Lisboa, Hudson County & Michael Plata, Esq.
