Lucinda Eason is a graduate of the Malcolm X Shabazz High School, School Within A School, “Gifted & Talented” program. She attended William Paterson University, earning a BS in Science K-12 and an MA in Educational Administration & Supervision. Ms. Eason has more than 25 years of educational leadership experience in Curriculum Development, Instructional Pedology and Career & Technical education programs.

Prior to her tenure in Newark, NJ, Ms. Eason was an administrator at Passaic County Technical & Vocational High School in Passaic, NJ. Over the years she was tasked with supervising diverse CTE programs, teachers, student management, security services, special education, student attendance and transportation. The desire to return to the City of Newark prompted Ms. Eason to seek a position with the Newark Board of Education and bring the wealth of educational leadership experience to serve students and the school community.

Over the past nine years, Ms. Eason has been pivotal in implementing two CTE academies: The Environmental Studies Academy at Central High School; and The Allied Health Services Academy at Weequahic High School. Through these academies she has been able to form lasting collaborations that allow students to engage in rich learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom with post-secondary and industry partners.

Ms. Eason’s passion is not only to cultivate students into becoming well rounded individuals, but she also shares that passion with her teachers. She draws from her vast teacher coaching repertoire, mentoring of new administrators, and deep commitment to excellence in education. She firmly believes that good leaders are those who lead by example and can often be found leaning along with and implementing the very techniques and tools presented to teachers. Ms. Eason believes that “Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did."

Ms. Eason is eager to be a part of this new and exciting journey with Newark Vocational High School’s students, parents, faculty, and community stake-holders. Ms. Eason believes that her foundation is grounded and balanced in family values, high expectations and unconditional support. She plans to embrace her school family with an attitude of perseverance and high expectations.

The Newark Vocational High School community is not only gaining a committed school leader in Ms. Eason, the school community also gains her husband, 2 children, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
