SUMMER SCHOOL SCHEDULE:
Doors open at 8:00am.
Classes begin promptly at 8:15am.
The tardy bell sounds at 8:20am (Session 1) and 10:55am (Session 2).
Lunch is served at 1:15pm.
After the close of a student’s session (10:40am or 1:15pm), he/she must leave the high school immediately, unless he/she is eating lunch or reporting to detention.
DRESS CODE:
The dress code will be strictly enforced:
NO halter tops
NO strapless/spaghetti-strapped dresses
NO clothing which exposes a bare midriff
NO short shorts, bike tights or leggings
NO see-through clothing
NO lewd t-shirts or sleeveless t-shirts
NO pants worn far below the waist
NO caps, hats, bandannas, or other head coverings which are not worn for bona fide religious reasons
NO exposed backs or brazier straps (no racer backs)
NO flip-flops or strapless sandals
NO beaded necklaces
NO garments with obscene, profane, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate comments or pictures
LOCKERS:
Students will NOT have access to lockers.
BEHAVIOR:
Students who are eighteen years old are legal adults. However, they are also Newark Public School district’s students and are subject to all rules and regulations of the school.
Under no circumstances are friends, relatives, or babies allowed to attend classes with any student.
Only acceptable standards of behavior are expected during summer school. Anything less will not be tolerated and will result in dismissal from the summer school program. Infractions which will result in dismissal from summer school include, but are not limited to:
Fighting
Abusive or profane language
Disrespectful or disruptive behavior
Physical/verbal assault
Truancy
Cutting classes
Wearing caps or hats in the school building
Inappropriate dress
Smoking in school
Pulling the fire alarm
Possession of a weapon
Possession of illegal drugs and/or alcohol
Possession of a beeper
Possession of/or playing radios/cassettes/other audible music sources in the school building
